Age, Use and Sunlight will take it's toll on the finest furniture. We would like to offer some suggestions to help you maintain the appearance and usefulness of your furniture for many years to come. If your furniture does become damaged, call a professional as soon as possible. Age, Bleaching, Use and Sunlight Prevention: Periodically rotating accessories placed on tables can prevent the surface to age unevenly and leave areas that do not match the rest of the top. The use of felt pads or coasters for items such as lamps, water glasses, vases, or other liquid containers will aid in protecting the finish. Chemicals Plastic and or rubber objects should not be placed on finished wood surfaces. They may contain ingredients that could damage the finish. Always place a protective pad under paper while writing on your table, the pressure of either a ball point pen or a lead pencil can leave trace lines in the finish. This process will also aid in scratch prevention. Avoid placing furniture directly in sunlight, this includes upholstered furniture. The bleaching action of the sun is extremely difficult to restore, although can be accomplished with the proper use of our products. Remember water can be the number one liquid that could do the most damage to finished wood. Dust often, some tips are: following the grain of the wood, polish once a month using Howard Wood Care Products, watch the humidly and avoid direct sunlight.
